Dear Enquirer from Great Britain, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland Greetings and welcome to Australia! BUT PLEASE do not be put off by the fact that the best Distance Education Course on Civil Celebrancy in the world is based in the Colonies (given the exchange rate it is quite and advantage!). -- __ I think I can enable you to become one of the sought after Civil Marriage Celebrants in the United Kingdom! -- In 1973 in Australia, we were appointed as celebrants in similar circumstances to what is currently happening in the UK. In 1973 we had dull, quick, boring legal ceremonies. Initially, people were pleased, however, because they could choose the place of their marriage. They didn't have to go to that horrible government place. -- We had good leadership. Civil Marriage Celebrants in Australia were founded by an Attorney-General, Lionel Murphy, who believed in the power and worth of ceremony. He encouraged us to gradually introduce choreography such as processionals, recessionals, wedding formations, couple facing vows; he encouraged us to use poetry from Shelley, Shakespeare, Kahlil Gibran, prose from Bertrand Russell and William Waldon, music from Wagner, Mendellsohnn, Presley, the Beatles and much more. Now the 2500 civil celebrants in Oz officiate at 62% of all weddings, whereas the 18,000 clergy only officiate at 38%. Figures are harder to research in the area of Funerals but in one large Funeral Firm (with many branches) in Melbourne civil clebrants officiate at 82 % of the Funerals. -- For the time being in the UK couples will go to the Registry Office or whatever you call it, but many will want a real ceremony in another place. A bit like Charles and Camiila (Australians were shocked that the Royals could not have a celebrant who did exactly what they wanted, where they wanted, such as the humblest Aussie is entitlde to). The Royals had a civil ceremony, then they had their "real"ceremony in the Church of England. Sensitive aware human beings at their deepest level want to make their life choices, their life milestones, and their life events memorable and enriching. The Civil Celebrant is the skilled professional who facilitiates these celebrations/ceremonies for them. -- -- We have a highly acclaimed Distance Education Course with texts, DVDs and practical field work assignments, which will enable you to develop skill and competence in delivering ceremonies, which mean something. But why take my word for it. Why not read what our students have to say. It is no easy task to create and delvier a meaningful ceremony of subsatance. It takes a range of skills, a body of knowledge, and attitudes which must be learned. The Australian Government recognises our courses as fullfilling their requirements. You might like to gain those qualifications. The certificate on the wall is important, but the real acheivement is knowing that you are a capable professional- who can competently create the ceremony you have been asked to create. -- I hope I have interested you. If I haven't I would like to know why. I would consider it a great courtesy, if you would let me know how I can communicate this better. My email is dallymessenger@mac.com If I have interested you - here is the link to more information. {Please forgive the Australian references) You should read through the Modules and Diplomas Please note we have two main websites www.celebrancy.com and www.collegeofcelebrancy.edu.au -- With best wishes -- Dally Messenger STB, LCP (Lond), DipLib, ALAA, Grad DipCel © D.Messenger |
