The International College of Celebrancy wishes to make it perfectly clear that it is not, and never has been, in favour of any suggestion of fixed fees for civil ceremonies.

We believe the only fair way to pay a celebrant is by an hourly rate set by the individual celebrant based on his/ her qualifications and experience. We acknowledge however that clients demand a guideline fee and the Funeral Directors will not give anyone work, unless the celebrant accepts the the Funeral Directors' fixed ceiling maiximum fee. (This is why we advocate developing direct links with ourt own clients and the with the general public.)

Suggested / Guideline Fee Schedule - January 1, 2007

Suggested hourly rates - basic $60, College Diploma or equivalent $85, College Diploma and undergraduate Degree $110

The following fees are based on the 3-4 Diamond celebrant standard.

Weddings within 15 Kilometre radius - $750 + $75 GST = $825

Namings within 15 Kilometre radius - $420 + $42 GST = $462

Funerals within 15 Kilometre radius - $440 + $44 GST = $484

(Please note that we believe that Funeral Celebrants who observe the College Standards are notoriously underpaid, given the intense narture of the work, the skill required, the time spent, the spasmodic nature of the work, and the our-of-hour-time required.)

Other suggested arrangements

Wedding - Legalities and attendance - basic required involvement of authorised clebrant = $200

Wedding - transfer of wedding due to illness or other reasons - NIM and initial interview = 20%, Ceremony creation and dialogue - 25%, - Rehearsal 25% - Declarations and ceremony - 30%
